29th Annual Egg Fesival successful
PITTSFIELD - The 29th Annual Egg Festival and Kiwanis Karnival drew thousands during the week long event. Thursday, Friday and Saturday saw perfect weather for the annual event despite the fact that there were many other local events going on Central Maine including the opening of the Bangor Fair & Skowhegan Log Days. By the end of Saturday night, festival attendees bought up all the french fries, hot dogs, strawberry shortcakes, sausage dogs, doughboys, ice cream, T-shirts, etc. sold by the Pittsfield Kiwanis Club, the Egg Festival Committee and other non-profit organizations participating in the Annual fundraiser.

The Central Maine Scholarship Pagent was held at the Pittsfield Community Theatre on Thursday and was sponsored in part by the "Clifford Foundation". Miss Teen "Maine" USA 2001 Mei Ling Lam and Master of Ceremonies Bill Karins were overseeing the 24 contestants all competing for the title of Queen & Princess.

The 2001 winners of the annual event are:

Queen, 17 year old Elzadie Martin of Hartland, daughter of Jerry & Merinda Martin;

Princess, 15 year ofd Megan Thomas of Garland, daughter of Nancy & Terrry Thomas

1st runner up, 14 year old Janelle Vigue of Hartland, daughter of Paul & Sherry Vigue.

1st Place - Emily Vigue for Potato crust with smoked Cheddar and Proscuitto
$10 gift certificate from Bud's Shopn Save

2nd Place - Mary Chelberg for Ham and Broccoli
