32nd Annual Central Maine Egg Festival
Features Hawaiian Theme
The 32nd Annual Central Maine Egg Festival will be held Monday, July 19th through Saturday, July 24th in Pittsfield. The 2004 festival will feature a "Hawaiian Lu-Egg" theme.

This year's "eggvents" include: a Blue Hill Brass Concert, Family Fun Walk, Sebasticook Valley Community Band Concert, 5-A-Day Egglympics, Street Dance, Parking Lot Art Contest, Window Painting, Kiddie Parade, Kiwanis Karnival, Cheesecake and Quiche Contest/Luncheon, Arts Club Early Bird Breakfast, Horseshoe Tournament, Car Show, craft tent, Famous Big Parade, Newport Fire Department Chicken Barbecue, All-Star Softball Game, dog search and rescue demonstration, petting zoo, Pretty Puppy Contest, Fireworks and more.

The Family Fun Walk, "Walking on Eggshells," will take place on Tuesday, July 20th at 6 PM. The event, sponsored by Fit 1 and Healthy Living, will be held at the Pittsfield Town Office parking lot rain or shine. Window Painting will be held on Thursday, July 22nd on Main Street. The event is sponsored by the MCI Key Club and painters will create artwork on merchants' windows. The contest is open to all ages. Prizes will be awarded by age category, neatness, originality, use of the festival theme and use of the egg. Contestants must pre-register at the Pittsfield Public Library.

The Horseshoe Tournament is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 24th at 8 AM at the Manson Park horseshoe pits. The tournament is a team competition and the entry fee is $5 per person. Disputes will be settled by Coordinator Peter Kett. Prizes will be awarded as follows: 1st Place - $100; 2nd Place - $50; 3rd Place - $25.

An Antique and Classic Car Show, hosted by the Duster's Car Club, will be held from 8 AM to 2 PM. To register entries in the show contact Cheryl or Steve Burton at 277-4142. Raffle drawings will be held. Voting will be done by numbers for a fee of $1 per vote. Winners will be announced at the close of the show. Best of Show and Peoples Choice will receive $100 and a trophy.

Musical entertainment will include: Ashley Nicole Howard, Sam and Jim Whitman, Aaron McCannell, Don Levesque and High On Country.

A Dog Costume Contest will take place at 5 PM. Judging will be based on originality, use of Hawaiian Lu-Egg theme, poise and dog/master sportsmanship. All dogs must be leashed at all times. All participants will receive a small bag of gourmet dog cookies. Awards will be presented as follows: 1st Prize - Coveted Golden Biscuit Award; 1st Runner Up - Silver Biscuit Award; 2nd Runner Up - Bronze Biscuit Award. All contestants will be invited to march in the Pretty Puppy Parade around the festival grounds following the awards ceremony.

This year's Central Maine Egg Festival is guaranteed to offer fun and excitement for the entire family (even the pooch)!
