![]() July 18th thru July 23rd, 2005 Kiwanis Karnival Thursday, 20th to Saturday 23rd Although a Mexican theme, the festival will be honoring veterans this year, and the annual parade will be led by area veterans. Any veteran wishing to march or ride in the parade should contact Davis at 257-3877.
Kiwanis Karnival The Kiwanis Karnival started many, many years prior to the Egg Festival. The kiddie parade on Thursday night starts the Kiwanis Karnival and the fireworks, which are sponsored by the Greater Pittsfield Area Kiwanis, ends the event on Saturday night. The Greater Pittsfield Area Kiwanis raises the majority of its funds from all of the activities that they sponsor. They host all the rides; games; kiddie games; hot dog, onion rings and French fry booths. The beano, raffle, kiddie parade and bouncing ball tent are all part of the Kiwanis Karnival. All the funds that are raised by the Kiwanis at these activities are put back into the surrounding communities through scholarships, food banks, donations to other local organizations and Terrific Kids programs to name a few. The Greater Pittsfield Area Kiwanis also sponsors the Nokomis Key Club and the M.C.I. Key Club. Central Maine Egg Festival Pageant: The pageant will feature three age categories: Judging criteria is as follows: 20% academics; 35% interview; 20% onstage question; and 25% poise/appearance. Those interested in participating in this years Central Maine Egg Festival Pageant are asked to contact Terri at 368-4640. Festival booklets are available at many locations around Pittsfield, including the town office and is dedicated to the late Florence McLeod this year, who was a longtime supporter of the festival. |
